About the Library:
There has been a library in the hamlet of Milton since 1888. The current library building was constructed in 1924. The library was expanded in 1990 with the addition of the Hope Perkins Featherstone Annex. The Annex was designed by architect Frank Taylor to be an exact duplicate of the existing structure. The addition of the Annex has allowed the library to expand its collections and provide a large “community room” for public use.
As an essential and integral part of the community, the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library inspires lifelong learning, advances knowledge, encourages creative expression, and offers opportunities to explore new experiences and ideas. SHHFL supports the residents of and visitors to the Hudson Valley, the Town of Marlborough, and its hamlets, by providing access to information, education, and recreation.

2021-2026 Long-Range Strategic Plan
In 2021, the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library (SHHFL) embarked on a strategic planning process in order to better align the library’s future direction with the aspirations and concerns of the larger community. The Long-Range Strategic Plan adopted by the SHHFL for 2021 to 2026 is informed by the thematic aspirations expressed during our Community Conversations, and is to be reviewed at least once a year.
